Frist's "priorities." No wonder Mark Steyn wanted to use him as attic insulation.

Frist says asbestos bill tops Jan. list

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON -- The establishment of a $140 billion trust fund to compensate people sickened by exposure to asbestos will be the GOP-controlled Senate's first priority in 2006, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., said Wednesday.

The trust fund would be set up in exchange for a ban on the multimillion dollar lawsuits brought by people with asbestos-related diseases.

"Asbestos reform will be the first major piece of legislation that we consider in late January when we return," Frist announced as the Senate began winding down its 2005 legislative session.
