I think the Bush II PR machine is probably the best (most skilled, most talented) ever to be seen in any administration.

I think the political reverses can't be attributed to a different factor: the people have stopped listening uncritically.

(But Bush II will have to lose a *lot* of Republican support --- which is still very high --- before he can possibly challenge the low approval record of the only second term President to record lower approval numbers then Bush II currently has. Nixon posted a 28% approval number, just before he resigned... while Bush II is still around 37%. His Republican support is still historically quite respectable, but the drop in support of Independents is what is most troubling to the electoral prospects for the Party.)
