I tend to agree with most of that. Of course, that's not what Murtha and the Dems are saying. They are saying we are losing, that mistakes are being made daily, and that Iraq is a disaster. Murtha and Howard Dean are calling for retreat.

So how could Bush leave before fixing such a mess?
By declaring victory? Nope, he can't do that because the Dems are framing the situation in the press as a disaster.

If the Dems cared about the troops and the long term strategy more than they care about scoring political points, they would take your advice. Bush's hands are tied until the majority of congress agrees that the mission is accomplished.
