You miss the point. Whether you view them as good depends on where you are in the food chain. The slaves certailny didn't think they were, the Indians certainly didn't. And it's not that there were a few bad apples. The very same people that stood for "All men are created equal." owned and mistreated slaves. Neither does this invalidate the good things they stood for and that are more present in our modern culture than they were the day the constitution was first penned. It means they were human and shouldn't be held up as saints. Life is grey. jb
