I'm reading The Long Emergency now. This seems to be right on track with what the author is talking about. When I recently read the amount of work and investment the Saudis have to go through just to ramp up production by a few million barrels per day it confirmed for me just how dire the situation is. Alternative fuels are a joke. Don't expect them to help us. simply not there in the commercial abundance that we need them. Anyway, most are predicated on being manufactured with the help of fossil fuel. Hydrogen economy? eere.energy.gov Check out the goals and deliverable dates. Too little too late. Just the handling issues, extreme hazard, and the infrastructure to support suburbia won't be resolved before we're already well into $100.00 per barrel oil and economic hardship. If anybody has a positive spin, let me know, I'd like to hear a happy ending. Malcolm.
