I'm not arguing what is possible, Tim. I said "don't" not "can't". We can dip our daughter into the well but we are restrained legally, morally, and rationally. No doubt you CAN build a car that goes into the next freeway or that fires bullets with every revolution of a wheel; but what one CAN do and what one can legally, morally, or rationally do (within the logic of the Constitution) is another matter.

How the car is USED is absolutely regulated.

Which is a problem with your car analogy. It is illegal to use cars as a weapon. Guns on the other hand are bought to sit on a shelf in front of a web cam--RIGHT?

Whereas I say that weapons are weapons and anyone using a weapon should be certified as qualified to handle that weapon safely. Hell, a car is not inherently a weapon. It is transportation. But even the driving of a car in the public arena requires the demonstration of skills and an awareness of safety rules and regulations. It is in the public interest to know that individuals are prevented from amassing weaponry to levels of public threat and for reasons of public menace. We regulate car drivers. Regulate trigger pullers.
