Thomas, It was the coma that parted them. Even though a coma is usually a living death, according to law, she was still alive. I agree, that it was a shame that the parents could not realize the futility of their efforts, but it is difficult to scorn people that don't want to let got of a child.

Personally, I felt that the plug should have been pulled, and have specified in my will, that if a similar situation happens to me, that I am not to ever be hooked up to any machine to keep me alive without hope.
