Today, after Harry Potter, we took the Grandkids to a suburb not far from here, and a "Support the Troops Gift and Gift Food" small group were. The idea was from a Mom whose son was killed in Iraq, and she wanted to do something to help the troop morale. What a refreshing change from Sheehan!!!!

She got some notice in various groups, had her tables out in front of a major chain grocery store, and several ladies helping her take care of the booth. She didn't even know that KVI had talked about her on the radio....She just wanted to do "something" for our troops, so she did the arrangements herself!

They had collected about 10 large boxes of items, and the grocery store had donated the postage to get the items shipped over to the Military....

I wanted the Grandkids (10 and 12) to get something they felt the soldiers would enjoy....My Granddaughter wanted to buy the gingerbread house kit, and my Grandson was going to buy them donuts....When we told him they might spoil before they got there, he and she went in together on the gingerbread kit, using some of their money, and some of their Dad's money... We brought a large box of cocoa mixes for them.

Each of them got a little Flag to wave (with a homemade little yellow ribbon tied to it) and a pin of the Flag, plus their choice of a piece of candy.... It was good for the kids, and good for us to see them participate. I told them later that that's what Christmas is to me....It's about "giving" and not just "receiving...."
