"if there is going to be some shooting, then let's get with it". LMAO, can't dislike a guy like that too much.....I'd never heard that one... Maybe this would be more akin to the truth. Johnson didn't have the political clout to suppress the revenge seekers. Difficult time in our history. It may have been that Lincoln wouldn't have been able to do it either but at that point he might have had the personal prestige to carry it off.
