Peter, The really funny part about the 2000 election in Florida, is that the Democrats designed that "butter fly" ballot, and endorsed it for use in the election, but when Gore was on the ropes, they start crying "FOUL" and criticizing the ballot itself. There was nothing confusing about that ballot, and any problems stemmed from the stupidity of the voters, and, as you say, the Dems had the vast majority of incompetent voters.
From what I see on SI, they still have the same kind of majority.
You have a point about the number of bills Bush has vetoed, but he doesn't let Congress push him around either. As a politician, he has greased the axles of the wheels, but there are no statesmen left in D.C.
Bush 41 made the mistake of letting the UN call the shots. Stormin Norman could have taken Baghdad in the wink of an eye after the end around maneuver, but pressure from the UN caused it all to stop. IMO, The UN is nothing but a cess pool of people that want to think they are important to the future of the earth, and I am for demolishing the UN, or at least, kicking it out of the US. They are about as useless as tits on a boar hog. |
