If we really want to dislodge a dictator in support of human freedom and human rights, then we damn well be sure that there is someone who could fill the void immediately. CIA did that in the past. What is wrong with doing so now to combat the rise of Islamic fundamentalism. Because this too is nothing more than what I see as a short term patch. IMO the unrest throughout the entire region is the same reason for unrest in other parts of the world SA being a prime example and it goes way beyond religion. In greatly simplified terms, it's directly related to a fundamental underlying cause. Wealth and land reform. In all these countries we speak of if a person wanted to start their own business/farm or whatever. Their very success would not have anything to do with their own entrepreneurial talents in as much as it would rely on their unswerving loyalty to the powers that be ie. the ruling family clans or the mullahs. This sets up loop where the ruling families support those who support them. The rest of the populace is kept in check via distractions or direct intervention.
