The Russians stopped the Germans on their own as far as Russian soil goes.
Arguable point and one that has been extensively argued. Those convoys weren't going to Murmansk at great cost of lives for the beauty of the Arctic. OTOH, 80%-90% of German soldiers killed were killed on the eastern front. OTOH, Stalin had a reason for being very insistent about the opening of a Second Front.

It's a complicated subject that will never be settled.

As to why the U.S. waited till P.H. to enter the war--you tell me?!
Because we didn't have cause for a declaration of war? You criticize us now for invading Iraq for what you consider just that reason, yet you think we should have done just that in WW2. Appears to depend on whose ox is being gored.

We weren't British subjects, remember? We ended that relationship in 1783 with the Treaty of Paris.

In any case, when the U.S entered the European Theater the German Army was a shadow of what it had been.
1943? They were still quite capable of fighting. And proved it. And we started fighting them in 1942 in North Africa.

So if the Japanese had NOT attacked Pearl Harbor--WHEN was America planning to assist against the threat of National Socialism and Communism? What year (or contingency) did the brass have in mind? Is that a fair question? One wonders about such details...
When they had justifiable cause? Again, you criticize us for entering Iraq without that. But if you switch sides, THEN you will have to explain the delay of the Europeans and Canadians in many gonocides since, including Yugoslavia and multiple cases in Africa.

I know that some Canadians were active in the profits available in a mighty Germany. I have heard Capitalists from other Nations were as well. Oh..it is a bad old world! ;-)
Germany was ot our enemy until late 1941.
Did no English have a part in making Hitler mighty?
Or Russians? They helped train the Luftwaffe. Much to their regret.

And just as an aside: When Hitler took power there were over 7,000,000 people unemployed in Germany and the Communist Party was fast becoming the people's choice. Hitler stopped that,uh huh.
Uh huh. FDR FINALLY ended the Great Depression in the US by entering WW2, too. So?
