so, they owe ave joe a concert that is affordable

They could lower their prices but that doesn't mean that Joe gets to see them. They're only going to give so many concerts and the halls are only so big. They sell out their concerts at the high prices they charge so if they dropped the prices, they'd have mobs fighting to get them.

Price is a way of reducing demand so that the supply and the demand match up. I suppose they could hold raffles or some other chance mechanism to determine who gets to buy the tickets. Or only those who have birthdays in February. Or they could make people apply for them and only sell them to those who meet the Joe criteria. But that would be a major operation. How would you have them distribute their twenty dollar tickets? I guess they could hold their concerts on Thanksgiving and Christmas when few people would opt to go. But then they probably wouldn't like to give up their holidays, either.
