rich, As Many said, it prevents murderers from ever committing homicide again, but there is another reason for the death penalty. The cons of today are living the life of Riley, with air conditioning, tv sets, good food at the cost of the tax payer, and among other perks, access to computers where they learn to be pseudo attorneys and flood the courts with repeals that don't stand a chance.

I forget the actual cost per year of keeping a prisoner behind the walls, but in the case of murderers, there is not reason that the taxpayers should pay for the existence of people that have the traits of a rabid dog.
