I really think that for this comparison to be meaningful you've got to include shipping costs -- because a lot of people consider that -- and that you've got to compare what it would cost to get in your car and go over to a B&N store (and others) and pick up the books yourself -- because people consider doing that as well. Fact is, for price alone the cheapest thing is probably to buy currently popular books at a real store.

The real question is -- what does that mean for Amazon? Is raw price a comparison that's even worth making? To look at the value of Amazon, should we be taking into consideration all book-buyers or just those who buy on the internet? I really don't know and I don't have a position in any book stocks. I'm just throwing some questions out there for consideration.
