Nothing can be done with Syria until the US can be sure who is who but I doubt if anything could be done even then without some large scale reforms. Fat chance that even small reforms would take place. They could try a fair election to start. This obviously isn't a case of good verses evil, more like evil vs evil. If the US assists Assad and he asserts control then there's just one more case of the status quo. Until Syria allows truly free and open elections the US can't really justify doing anything to help......Except invading them too, and that's probably not going to happen.<g>
