Murtha is right. But the GOP rightwing intentionally misrepresented what he said, as they always do when they're on the wrong side of debates. They only used the first sentence and not the conditions the first sentence was based on. That is safety for the troops first and foremost. Also, Murtha doesn't advocate abandoning the defense of Iraq. He wants a large force stationed nearby so we can intervene if the Iraqi government is threatened.

But time for Iraqis to defend Iraq. Enough is enough.
