If GOOG is getting lots of advertising dollars for selling internet ads, what does that have to do with PCs, cell phones, or IT services?
Well Elroy, whats happening is, a lot of technology is changing their model to services which can be funded by ads. Thats what I mean by google lighting up the industry. For example, Google is implementing free wifi in 2 cities now. This will all be paid for by ads. As someone who has bought a house in the last 5 years, I know there is a market for targeted, local advertising, in fact, trying to find a gardener/plumber/mechanic etc. is a big pain now. Most commerce is local and the entire market for ads is untapped. But anyway, wifi is not a new tech, but because Google offers a way to implement it and make it PAY, instead of the conventional model of charging households $50 PER MONTH for access, that industry (wireless ISP) has new life. Thats what I mean. So say you get Google free wifi in a few cities and other cities offering somebody elses free wifi. That will add how much to the current online broadband traffic? My guess usage will about double.
now that free wifi is coming, here comes voIP, since everyone will have it. etc.
