Since it will be several years before Iraq has a military fully capable of independent operation without US help, that will probably be the case anyways. They don't have the logistics, armor, and air capabilities to be fully independent. That will take several more years to build up.

We'll be in Iraq in some form for a very long time.

I'm curious as to what weapon systems the Iraqi government will end up buying. I can't see Israel being comfortable with an Iraq, even a democratic Iraq, having modern US military technology. Will Iraq get Abrams and F-16s? Or will they get tossoffs from Europe and Russia?
