It turns out that last week began with the largest equity short position in equities since 2003. As a wrote in my post back then, it seemed that all the people I am normally trading against were suddenly on the same side as me and that was why I continued back to long again ang in time. Nice to see that the data has been published and does show that in fact everyone and their mother was record short or in cash.

The most encouraging part for traders should be that all of the evidence that supports this effect was clearly being generated by the market and in the chat rooms. For me it is one of the most enjoyable parts of trading, that is "reading the quieter message" or as the case may be "reading the louder message".

I love holiday trading weeks and expect to finish out the week in the same direction. The fact is, Mr. big does not like to dump his turds in to what should be ordinarily a low volume week going forward. So the typical impetus is up for stocks with good charts as retail traders typically use this time to pile.
