Hi Gottfried,

Earlier this year Dell starting offering a 90 day warranty on the lower cost PC's and notebooks. One year was the standard warranty for all of Dell's products prior to the change over. Of course you can always purchase an extended warranty.

PS: Are the specials on Dell's web-site under the heading of Black Friday? I couldn't find this reference on the web site.
