Based on my last conversation with him, he would agrree with a lot of what Murtha had to say about the situation in Iraq and where things are headed. He thinks that until there is some indication that we have a plan to withdraw, there is no incentive for Iraqis expedite getting their own security forces ready to take over. And he thinks that ultimately, whether we begin leaving in January 2006 or January 2008, there will be a civil war afte we are gone that will wipe out whatever we have accomplished. Not pretty, but that is his informed view.
