Note that the present multinational effort in Iraq is authorized by a UN resolution. And currently it is antiwar liberals who would like to scrap the effort regardless of UN support. I have communicated with a bunch of liberals on SI who don't support the spread of democracy in any manner and who think much of the world is culturally incapable of it. Not progressive IMO.
