Google has really become a powerhouse, there are indications they have some very broad plans to enter traditional telecom markets. This is one of their new forays, Google click-to-call, I suspect the next version(s) will expand into VoIP. There are some decent hints they are working with Sonus. I can envision a very elegant new network that utilizes Google's strength in software development to deliver content/apps that we normally think of telecom providing, plus much more that old,fat telecom hasn't even thought of.

I sense the end game for telecom, silly comments like those from Ed Whitacre about putting roadblocks in front of this type of effort will just drive customers to cable or other broadband alternatives where new services over broadband are embraced, or will be.
