The dual CableCARD prototype that TiVo has been showing this last year is not a viable product (because of the two cards). The next generation of CableCARD (almost here) is needed for a truly workable dual tuner single card implementation. That is why they can't give a better time frame. The Comcast version will likely come out sooner but it will in all respects be a Comcast product (it will be a feature limited implementation in the same way the DirecTV one was). It is to be hoped that TiVo can motivate the FCC to kick the cable companies' collective behind regarding their spotty embracing of the CableCARD standard.
