"The Abu-Garib scandal was what happens when a critical mass of incompetent people randomly end up together."

C'mon. As recently as last week Cheney was arguing in favor of torture by presidential request. Now we now know about the existence of secret prisons run by the CIA.

What you saw in Abu Garib was what got out. We don't see 99% of whatever atrocities happen in secret places. What did Rumsfeld do when Abu-Garib was breaking ?– he banned camera phones.

Whatever - if that’s the direction the President wants to take the US - Whatever.

Bush just better get used to snickering in places like Communist China when he talks about human rights. What the Chinese do - hold dissidents (enemies of the State) without charge, torture and declare people non-entities is exactly what the US now does under Bush.

I know, I know, the world is a tough place so we have to become animals.
But we better not kid ourselves and think we are any better than the Chinese anymore. I think it would be riot if the Chinese leader lectured Bush about human rights.
