Arun, the fact that you're bright doesn't automatically follow that the vast majority of the people who share your background are bright too. Perhaps the culture where you come from enforce things like: respect for the forefathers, You are away from your country of origin and the farthest you are from home the better home looks like You may be the first generation among these foreign people and inside your brain you're still part of the place you come from That kind of thing that plays inside the brain... Fuck it! Forget it the same way I did. You may be an anomaly just like Elmat. A product of a set of cirumstances. Circumstances those, that we have had very little control over. We -because we are, intellectually, above the average of the people we left at home- just went from one opportunity to another, and most was already decided for us, we just took what seemed the best pick. We were just clever and hard working enough to pick the best for us. That's it. But I don't think there's something special about the places one comes from. CAVEAT! Brazil is a case a apart because of the football. Only football is an special thing, and it is an exception which I can be proud of because no one can dispute that special quality. Brazil is good, but I don't wave the Brazilian flag, and Brazilness, unless when we are playing international football.
