The HTML in profiles was restricted for several reasons, in general order of importance.

- Removed the opportunity to embed malicious scripts that could install malware on users' computers.

- Removed the opportunity to embed objects that could violate or give the appearance of violating member privacy.

- Removed the many instances of [un]intentional or badly formatted code that was hiding the content of the profile or otherwise hosing its display.

- We needed the screen real estate for the additional feature summarizing the members' posting activity.

- Most of the graphic content was politically oriented and often offensive to other users. SI is primarily an investment-oriented site and the partisan political graphics detracted from the site.

Aside, there are some other projects in the works that will provide access to some of the restricted features to a larger universe of registered users. Bob will unveil that at a later date.
