Chinu, At the beginning of WW2 the nation was not fired up. The American people were mainly isolationists, and didn't want any part of the war in Europe. It was only the unexpected advances taken by Hitler, and the bombing or Pearl Harbor by the Japanese, that it became clear that we needed to enter the war. When we entered the war, the citizens were faced with a lack of gasoline, meat, clothing, and a much longer list, but they took the tough times like Americans usually do, and support the troops in every way possible.
