because quite frankly people here are not willing (at the moment) to work for the same wage as a factory worker in China or Bangladesh.

They shouldn't have to work for that wage to keep the jobs here. There must be some considerably higher wage at which it makes sense for the company to keep jobs here and at which the worker could live given that prices will be lower, too. I've been keeping an eye out for studies analyzing what that wage might be but I haven't seen anything. Still looking.

Over time, things will settle out and we'll end up with lower wages. If we knew what that wage was, we might be able to just go directly there and save a lot of the drawn-out heartache.
