"First, I was talking about computer sales specifically, not overall sales. Second, I was responding to Orion, who seems to feel that the growth in computer sales hasn't been satisfactory."
Allen, Let me make things clear: Apple's Mac sales growth, seen so far, which many attribute to the halo effect is essentially AFAIC rubbish. IMO, most of these sales have been to the already converted millions of Mac users and probably still using 8+ year old Macs. The halo effect is supposed to illustrate true Mac installed base growth as opposed to trade-ins from current Mac users. With more than 80 or 90% of iPod buyers being non-Mac users, why hasn't that same ratio, or anything substantially close, been seen within the Mac buying population? Because there's really no significant growth in the Mac installed base IMO. So far that's what I see. |
