Kevin, I believe that the had every intent to leave the fleet there, and suffer such losses, that the American public would totally back a full scale war. We can only hope that the powers of the world have realized the destruction that can be caused by a nuclear war, and how it could decimate mankind. Such a travesty would put mankind on the same page as the dinosaurs.
