I would go along with the idea that FDR thought the Japanese would attack in the Phillipines and maybe even Singapore. He may have thought that MacArthur could hold them off. But I don't buy the Pearl Harbor bit.

Hillary and Eleanor were a lot alike, ever consider that she really IS channeling her? :)
