Re: "its common knowledge among Constitutionalists that the 2000 election tainted the USSC along with the country."
In fact, the idea that anything was tainted is not shared among constitutionalists so much as it's just an opinion of some. Others very much disagree. But your case for this lies in the 5-4 ruling (itself somewhat explained in your provided qoute), not the 7-2 ruling, which is and should be, disputed by very few, no doubt.
The bolded part of your quote is misleading if thought to indicate that only one issue was adjudicated. As explained here, that isn't so. Both issues ruled upon were part of the remedy, you see.
I think you need to read the linked ruling......as far as I can tell, the vote was 7-2, and not 5-4 as you suggest.
And whatever is the ruling, it matters little..........the bottom line is the Republicans were unwilling to insure the election results were reviewed and settled to a point beyond a reasonable doubt. The reason being: they were afraid they would lose. So to this day, its never been clear if Bush won FLA and the WH fair and square.
His presidency will always be in question as a result. To make matters worse, he has been the absolute worse president in a hundred years. All because Rove had to have his way we, the people, have suffered. |
