BJ, What Bible did you read? The Koran?? Almost everything written about Jesus, was the message for peace he spoke of, the healing of the sick, and the adoration of Him by so many people that they have multiplied into being the religion held by the most people, over any other.
There was no mystique about His death. He was crucified by Roman soldiers at the insistence of the Sanhedrin. For those who witnessed, and were there, there is no mystique about His resurrection. They saw, and believed. Just as simple as that.
