Re: Satellite companies

I think DISH (Echostar) is a poor investment. I use their product for TV programs, but they don't have a net product. I want a single dish that will give me fast net access and TV programs. They built their business in the hopes that Murdoch would buy them out and the deal fell through. Murdoch fell in with the cable companies Primestar venture, so Echostar is doomed.

I've heard a lot more complaints from cable users than satellite users. Nevertheless, it doesn't look like either industry has found a profitable business model.

My satellite often loses the signal when it's raining. This is precisely the time when I'm most likely to want to watch TV.

I think broadband comm from the satellite, cable, or phone companies will be the driver for increased PC use. Voice recognition is more useful for a car because your hands aren't in use on the steering wheel.
