Dale > Sub-Saharan Africa is home to 25.8 million HIV-positive people, or 64 percent of the world's total

Indeed, a tribute to the non-intervention by the various governments in the region, especially the South African one, which is still in a state of denial and suspended animation, too busy enriching themselves with their Black Economic Empowerment legislation to notice the parlous health of their constituents. Now, of course, it's far to late to do anything, certainly anything effective, but wait for the body count -- and the "official" ANC denial of genocide.

Fifteen years ago South Africa had an HIV infection rate of 1% but by failing to respond timeously, infection rates have now hit new highs of 30%. This is according to the latest UNAids Global Aids Epidemic Update Report, released on November 21. The report says an “outstanding” feature of South Africa’s epidemic was the speed at which it evolved, and which shows no signs of relenting. The figure of 6-million HIV-positive people in South Africa makes the epidemic in SA one of the largest in the world. Yet – only 15% of infected South Africans are said to be receiving antiretroviral drugs, and I doubt even that.
