Metrowerks is a canadian company that has produced "code warrior" for the powerpc which is a real crackerjack of a development tool and is now used in developing something like 85% of all power Mac programs. I was interested to find out what their plans for embedded systems are since they mentioned this in one of their press releases. My questons and reply: >Is there any information available on which chips that the "code warrior >for embedded" will run on? reply: "CodeWarrior for embedded will initially target the MPC8xx family and the Mac and Windows version of this product will be shipping this fall. A second target will be the 68k family and we are currently shipping tools for the Pilot. Later this year we will be shipping CodeWarrior embedded for 68k. We have built a MIPS code generator and will be targeting the R3000 and R4000 families as well. " second question: >How will this the code warrior system compete with and/or comply with I2O? second reply "What is I20? David David Perkins Senior Vice President Strategic Products Metrowerks, Inc." Well, it does not seem they will be competing directly with WIND in the near future but Metrowerks has an excellent track record. I did send him a reply telling him what I2O is.
