[At the heart of this, sayinsiders, is an innovative chip that crams the capabilities of a TV tuner, cable modem, and a high-speed PC modem into one low-cost unit......That bandwidth-busting technology has helped WebTV snag new licensees, such as Hitachi Ltd.and Mitsubishi Corp., to make the new boxes.]

Hi Pat

As I'm no techno wiz- (virtually all of what I know about adsl and it's competition,I've learned on this thread) Could you please help me fill in the dots a little better; Should I take the above to mean that there is a likelyhood that Amati's ADSL line code is going to be incorporated into Msft new chip? Should I get this inference from the fact that there are no other competent technologies out there? How would this impact the C6x chip ....or is it the C6x? Or is there other associations that I'm too ignorant to spot. Is there any association implied by their intended licencees; Hitatchi and Mitsubishi
My only fear is that they've developed yet another way to skin the Bandwidth Cat -albeit, a fear totally unfounded on my part.

Please forgive my ignorance, and once again thanks to you and all of the tech heads who contribute to this thread. You are the teachers and deserve all of the praise that you get.

PS -Thanks for the NEC url re: the Australian trials -very encouraging to say the least!
