I don't think they are con men--but they have a near evangelical zeal which raises the question of whether they are too enamored of their hypothesis. The Case Western people whose cell-cycling theory is the theoretical underpinning had a whole morning at SFN 2005 devoted to their research. The room was pretty packed with the curious. I do not know anyone who left convinced--but given the continuing uncertainties in the Church of A-Beta, they did not dismiss them out of hand either. The question is whether Voyager can raise enough money from their IPO to keep Phase III on track--they arent going to end up with anything near what they were looking for initially. But then again, Myriad raised $140 million and change, so anything is possible.
