I seriously checked into buying a place in Austin. I spent about 7 months there many years ago (Feb-August) and I really liked the city, but the summer was very hot and humid - worse than Florida imho. The winter was also a bit too cold for my liking, but not that bad. For me, the deal breaker was when I discovered the length and severity of the ragweed season - I simply refuse to suffer with hayfever.
