I'm glad that you see the difference. No one is saying that Iraq is somehow "easier" on the troops than Vietnam. The intensity may be similar, but the results are not.

The calculation also ignores the relative effect on the enemy. We can "buy" more enemy attrition with each US soldier's death. That's an important consideration. More important, IMO. Totally ignored in the media.
