Family sues over carbon monoxide deaths By The Associated Press
COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — The wives of two men who died of carbon monoxide poisoning two years ago have filed lawsuits against the maker of a swimming pool heater.
Dr. Kevin P. Wilson, 49, of Bettendorf, and his father, Peter Wilson, 72, of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, were found dead in the elder Wilson’s home in November 2003.
Peter Wilson’s wife, Rhoda, and their other son, Neil, were found unconscious and taken to a hospital, where they recovered.
Kevin Wilson was an anesthesiologist and medical director for the Genesis Pain Management Center in Bettendorf. He also was a partner with Anesthesia and Analgesia PC in Davenport. He had been on active status at Genesis since 1995.
He had flown to Idaho two years ago because of the illness of his father, who had just retired as the Bonnners Ferry city attorney.
Kevin Wilson’s widow, Katrinka Wilson, and Rhoda Wilson have filed separate lawsuits against Teledyne Industries and its related companies.
The lawsuits state that Peter Wilson installed a pool heater in a furnace room in his basement. The heater and vent did not work properly in a closed area, causing a buildup of carbon monoxide that led to the men’s deaths, according to the lawsuits.
The companies failed to provide adequate warnings about the installation of the heater, the lawsuits state.
A call to Teledyne Technologies was referred to Water Pik Technologies in California. Water Pik representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment. |
