Do you think they had an agenda?

Dunno. Frankly, I didn't even read the whole thing and, while the notion interested me, as I said, I'm not engaged enough to study it that closely. Hat tip to Derek for crisply differentiating and labeling the "intensity of conflict" vs. "total cost" calculations. Now I have something to call that particular notion, one that I never knew existed. Now I do. 'Nuf for my purpose, which is the occasional tickle of the fancy.

While I was doing my SI and waiting for Surface to come on last night, the news was playing and I saw another item that interested me. There was a piece reporting that New York has been invaded by bedbugs. Now, I have never in my life personally encountered a bedbug and have been under the impression that they were, if not extinct, at least contained. But they're showing up in the poshest of places in New York. They interviewed an exterminator who said he used to get a dozen or so calls a year for bedbug extermination and now he gets, as I recall, somewhere around ten thousand. There's even a bedbug blog.

As you can see, what interests me is a wide and varied range. As Rambi might say, I'm easily amused. <g>
