Transbotics Now Offers A Simple Wire-Guided Low-Cost Automation Solution
Transbotics is pleased to offer a new low-cost wire solution that can be used as new simple material delivery systems or to replace existing older wire AGV systems. This is ideal for simple repetitive processes. This solution merges updated wire guidance technology with the latest in safety and system controls to create a solution that is cost efficient and reliable. These vehicles are capable of picking up and dropping off to any station (ex. floor, platform, racking system, conveyor) consistently.
The technology can be applied to a wide variety of our vehicle types including conveyor top, fork style and roll handling. The vehicles can be equipped with non-contact laser protection scanners/ bumpers that ensure safety in the workplace. These vehicles can also be equipped with our unique maintenance-free battery solution, which utilizes opportunity charging (automatic charging while operational in the system) and maintenance-free batteries (batteries that do not require battery charging stations, swap out, etc). To find out more about our low-cost wire solution, please contact our Sales Department at (704) 362-1115.
Paper Industry Benefits from Installation of Newly Designed Roll Handling LGV
How can a manufacturing facility with a large number of rolls move its products safely, efficiently and with little or no product damage? Can this process be automated with little or no modifications to the existing space and flexible enough so that when the process changes the system can change as well? These were the questions Transbotics was asked by a leading North American supplier of paper and allied products. After evaluating several options and suppliers the company chose our tailor-made solution that met all of its objectives. The result was the installation of a Laser Guided Vehicle (LGV) system that consisted of a newly designed roll-handling vehicle.
The overall system included three vehicles, controls, hardware, software, engineering services and related equipment. The vehicles, while designed specifically for this client, can move rolls up to 90” in length and 59” in diameter, weighing over 9,000 lbs. This, of course, can be customized for any clients’ specifications. This system utilizes the latest in laser guidance technology that recognizes reflectors to continuously position itself within the system. The new vehicle is also equipped with laser safety bumpers that can dynamically vary in the field of safety, depending on the requirements of the system. The new vehicle will be a part of a system that utilizes proven, flexible software that makes it easy to both operate and analyze the system as well as make system layout changes. This software is part of the total solution and has the capability of integrating and monitoring all aspects of material handling, including delivery of raw materials to final distribution of the product. If you have an application which you think you could benefit from a tailor-made automation solution such as this one, contact us at info@transbotics.com. Major Tax Incentives For New Equipment Purchases
If you are considering upgrading, retrofitting or purchasing an automation solution, now is the time. Congress has passed an Economic Stimulus Bill that contains a new 30% additional appreciation allowance for equipment ordered by 9/11/04 and placed in service by 12/31/04. This new bill includes a capital investment incentive, which means you can recognize a first-year bonus appreciation of 30% to the already allowed 14%. To learn more about how your company can benefit from this, contact your Transbotics representative or your company’s tax advisor.
NA 2004 Proves To Be A Success
Transbotics was proud to attend The Material Handling & Logistics Show and Conference (NA 2004). The event was held at the International Expo Center (I-X Center) in Cleveland, OH, from March 29 – April 1, 2004. “By all measures we consider this event a huge success”, stated Ryan S. Willis, Director of Marketing & Business Development. Brian Keiger, VP of AGV System Sales, took time out of his busy schedule to present Innovative Automation Solutions That Can Increase Your Productivity and Reduce Costs to a standing-room-only crowd. This was a great opportunity to connect with customers, both current and potential. Congratulations to Hermann Kage at R.R. Donnelley, who won the Taylor Made golf club set. If you attended the show and need assistance on an automation project you are working on, please contact Ryan S. Willis at (704) 362-1115 (x207) or rwillis@transbotics.com.

Final Notes - Batteries
The batteries that are running your forklifts, AGVs, production equipment, and plant golf carts are an important part of your daily operation. The life span of these batteries can be dramatically decreased if your batteries are being used and/or charged improperly, costing your company valuable money. Remember to work with a battery/charging professional when replacing or purchasing batteries for your equipment. A representative should assist you in setting up an action plan that will maximize your battery life and ultimately, SAVE YOU MONEY. Contact Transbotics for more information on maximizing battery life and increasing charging capabilities.
