He's demanding to be handed over to Iraqis as far as I could tell. He should be grateful to be held by Americans, who, despite water-boarding and all that, are by and large likely to be more considerate of him than are Iraqis. I don't think "good Iraqis" need be embarrassed. Nor do "man on the street" Iraqis, who I suppose you mean are different from "good Iraqis". It seems a reasonable guess that Saddam's supporters are murdering anyone associated with his trial; and other people too. A sensible approach might be to simply hold him as a prisoner of war until the war is finished. Which it isn't. Mqurice
