$3.5MM Contract for SMID

Jefferson at Inigo's Crossing Chooses SLENDERWALL(R)

MIDLAND, Va., Nov 30, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Smith-Midland Corp. (SMID), the manufacturer of the SLENDERWALL(R) architectural precast concrete panel system, announces its involvement in the construction of Jefferson at Inigo's Crossing, a luxury apartment complex to be constructed in North Bethesda, Md.

The contract awarded to Smith-Midland Corp. is worth $3,530,000.00.

The project involves a 10-story, 274-unit luxury apartment building with a landscaped plaza, outdoor swimming pool and high-end club house facility. It will use SLENDERWALL(R) with an architectural precast concrete brick (APCB) finish, and an architectural precast concrete limestone finish.

The patented SLENDERWALL(R) architectural precast concrete panel system, with the APCB finish, allows the completion of the building's exterior envelope 60 days faster than hand- laid brick. Panel production is scheduled to begin in late 2005, with panel installation scheduled to begin in the winter of 2006, saving the owner the costs associated with installing hand-laid brick in the winter. The top floor SLENDERWALL(R) panels are load bearing, and carry the perimeter roof truss loads, eliminating the need for a poured concrete roof deck.

SLENDERWALL(R) combines time-proven components to create a permanent, light weight wall system for both new construction and recladding projects. Architectural precast concrete, insulated Nelson(R) anchors and heavy-gauge stainless or galvanized steel studs create a single, efficient exterior wall system with unlimited design freedom. Due to the exclusive "lift-and-release" panel landing system of SLENDERWALL(R), installation time and costs can be reduced by 50%.

Only SLENDERWALL(R) offers the latest DURAFLEX(TM) 360(degree) technology. This technology is the only 2" wall connection system that meets AAMA 501.4-2000, the Interstory Differential Movement vertical and horizontal displacement test. DURAFLEX(TM) allows isolation from the exterior precast concrete skin and the structural stresses associated with wind loading, steel frame movement, expansion & contraction and seismic shock.

Smith-Midland Corporation is a publicly traded company (SMID) . Smith-Midland develops, manufactures and sells a broad array of precast concrete products for use primarily in the construction, transportation and utilities industries. Smith-Midland has two manufacturing facilities located in Midland, Virginia and Reidsville, North Carolina. Easi-Set(TM) Industries, a wholly owned subsidiary of Smith-Midland Corporation, licenses the production of Smith-Midland developed products around the world.
