RE: "we've gone from unconstitutional to unfair recountings during the course of several posts. Not surprising."

Exactly. Unfair and Unconstitutional go hand in hand.

No, they don't. Unfair is a subjective observation. Unconstitutional is a legal matter.

That's the point of our Constitution. Ad Hominem ahead: Are you are still slimy with afterbirth, or what?

Huh? I would say its the reverse.

Gore and his lawyers wanted to count only counties that they deemed might be favorable to Gore, leaving out recounts in counties where Bush might benefit. Gore did not request a full and fair statewide recount including "overvotes" and the like.

The counties where things were favorable for Gore were the very counties where counting procedures were questioned. Interesting coincidence............the populous counties that were mostly likely to go to Gore were the very same ones where there were significant counting irregularities in a state where the opposing candidate's brother ruled. At the time, the country was fairly innocent when it came to the Bush/Rove machine. If the same thing were to happen today, all hell would break lose.......over time, Americans have learned not to trust anything connected with Bush/Rove.

Now, you say that in Florida "the entire vote count should have been recounted." Fair enough.

But how is it that you seem so upset, yelling and such, if Republicans asked for that in a governors race in WA.?

I am not upset. I thought their request for a second recount was a reasonable one given how close both vote counts were. What I found unreasonable is that after the second recount, they found all kinds of excuses to question both recounts......providing incorrect data to support their case and criticizing election commissions in the state, particularly the ones like heavily Dem. Kings county. Their accusations were downright dirty all but calling every election official a Dem. crook. This in a state known for its clean politics.

However, unlike with Gore and the presidency, the GOP wasn't worried about a smooth transition of power..........if it took all of 2005 to settle the matter they didn't care.........they weren't about to concede like Gore was forced to do in 2000. Eventually, they filed suit in the most Republican of the state's counties and made sure their judge was a registered Republican. Like with Delay in TX........the judge must always be a GOPer because according to them, judges are the most partisan of creatures and can't be trusted.

After a few days of review, the GOP judge laughed them out of court. Fortunately, there are still vestiges of the old GOP party where playing fair is still considered important.
