Positive macro news for Cube: BEIJING -- China will cut average tariff rates 6% on Oct. 1 in a move to strengthen its bid to join the World Trade Organization, the government announced Sunday through the Xinhua News Agency. The decision lowers China's import and export tariffs on more than 4,800 items to an average of 17% from 23%, according to the Office of the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council.
