I knew what you meant. I was just pulling your leg.

For what it's worth, I had my best elk hunting trip ever this year. Spent five days in my brother's camp. Didn't have a license, didn't have a rifle, didn't hunt. My brother hunted one day without cutting fresh sign; four days we sat around the fire and just talked.

One of the things we talked about was "Why do we hunt?" We agreed that the experience that we were having was paramount by far. Second was taking responsibility for what we eat instead of letting McDonald's do it for us. Third was the need to support healthy animal populations by hunting. Fourth: honoring life -- ours and the animals' -- and the heritage that set us down by the fire like our ancestor's from ages ago. Fifth: the thrill of the chase, the uncertainty, the chance the elk might get away.

Killing did not make the list.

Even though you do not hunt anymore, I deeply hope you will support hunting and our right to hunt. It is under attack right now, and we may lose it if we don't speak up.

I'm speaking up RIGHT NOW. All you denizens of Politics for Pros, support the right to hunt!
